Dear Meeting Street Families:
It is hard to believe that Halloween has passed and a new holiday season is upon us. Thanksgiving is one of my personal favorites because it gives us a chance to stop and reflect upon all the wonderful things that happen here at Meeting Street throughout the year. I am truly honored to lead a staff that provides high quality services to more than 3,000 children and their families each year. I, and the staff at Meeting Street, are committed to each and every Meeting Street child and appreciate the opportunity to work with your children.
Although it is easy for me to “toot our horn,” it is even better when others in the community acknowledge the wonderful work that we do. Just recently, Meeting Street has been honored by two important, yet very different, publications. Both the Providence Business News and Golf World magazine will feature Meeting Street in their upcoming issues.
Each year the Providence Business News, the major business publication in Rhode Island, selects individuals and businesses for their annual Business Excellence Awards. I am pleased to report that Meeting Street is the recipient of the 2010 Business Excellence Award for “Excellence at a Nonprofit Organization.” We will be recognized at an awards banquet on November 18 and will be featured in a special edition of the Providence Business News in mid-November.
At the same time, Meeting Street is part of the cover story about the Andrade-Faxon Charities
for Children in this week’s Golf World, a national magazine that reaches over 200,000 readers. Students from our Bright Futures Early Learning Center and The Grace School are pictured on the cover with professional golfer Brad Faxon and his wife Dory, who is a member of our Board of Trustees. Brad and Billy Andrade, another Rhode Island professional golfer whose brother attended Meeting Street many years ago, established the Andrade-Faxon Charity to give back to the community. Over the years, the Andrade-Faxon Charity has donated funds that we used to build our new campus, pay for hippotherapy, (therapeutic horseback riding), complete our new playground, and buy new therapy equipment used by children in many of our programs. The magazine story provides background on the wonderful relationship that Billy, Brad, and their families have with Meeting Street.
I am very proud that Meeting Street has been recognized by these two important publications and I am pleased to share this exciting news with you. Please check our website at www.meetingstreet.org for details. Thank you for continuing to entrust your child to our care. We wish each of you and all our Meeting Street families a wonderful holiday season.
Sincerely,

John M. Kelly
President
